Theres a build to farm pretty much the entire first area outside of rankor. I woulda posted a link but it takes you to a private build forum so...... ya.
This is a build i made about a 3 months ago but never really used it, i decided to restart my work on it and this is the best ive done so far.
Attributes:
9 strength(8+1)
12 swordsmanship(11+1)
14 tactics(10+3+1)
Skills: sever artery
gash
{e}hundred blades
riposte
deadly riposte
healing signet
"watch yourself"
dolyak signet
Execution: Start from camp rankor and go out the north exit and go north. You should see some blessed griffons with maybe a stone summit heretic hanging out there. If there is herectic pull it using a long bow, or if you dent have one use aggro circle(dangerous). You may have a griffon come with the heretic, don't panic, you should be able to handle this. If a griffon comes with the heretic, kill the griffon first. In order to kill griffons do this:
start the fight out with using dolyak signet and hundred blades, they may use symbol of wrath, if they do wait for it to finish and then move a bit so it cant deal damage to you. once you can use riposte, use it, then use watch yourself and then use gash if deadly riposte hit your target, if not, use sever artery. Use healing signet when needed and maintain watch yourself and dolyak signet. Whenever riposte or deadly riposte can be used use them, a little trick is to let the enemy take the damage from one and then use the other one, this will result in 2 attacks blocked instead of just 1.
To get rid of a heretic: spam healing signet everytime you can, with his crippling anguish and conjure phantasm you'll have lots of degen. Keep watch yourself and dolyak signet up as much as possible. To deal damage don't use the ripostes, just use your attack skills to take him down.
heretic and griffon combo: again, spam healing signet and keep watch yourself and dolyak up 24/7. use ripostes while fighting the griffon and take him out fast, remember to watch out for symbol of wrath. After you kill the griffon take out the heretic(see above). I haven't been in the predicament of having 2 griffons and a heretic, so if this happens, i suggest running.
After you get rid of the heretic if there is one, pull the other griffons right there and kill them too, after that walk forward and have the azure shadow appear, kill it with healing signet when needed and keep dolyak up. now turn left and pull the griffons and kill them, if there is a heretic there kill that first if you're in danger of aggroing it while fighting the griffons. After they are dead, check to the west if theres some griffons there. If there is kill them.
Once you finished the last paragraph, head south towards a small ramp, before you go up it though, walk around WITHOUT aggroing anything and see if theres a azure hiding. If there is, kill it, if not continue. Pull whatevers at the base of the ramp, if theres a heretic get rid of it, finish off the griffons there as well.
DANGER: if a azure pops up at the top of the ramp, pull it and anything else on you all the way back to the portal to rankor, let the 2 collectors there be killed while you deal a bit of damage to the azure(collectors die fast but it helps some in this fight). If there is an azure and a heretic that you end of fighting you will have a VERY hard time. Azure have awesome damaging ability and you'll be degening fast from the heretic, if this happens, have fun. If it was just an azure and some griffons, take out the azure and move onto the griffons.
If the danger section didn't happen, clear out the griffons and heretics at the top of the ramp and in that area. After thats done, move towards the small opening that takes you to a large number of monsters and a boss where pulling is essential. Be careful though, an azure may pop up in the little opening, if one does, pull it away and kill it, then proceed.
Once you enter the area where theres a boss accompanied by griffons and sometimes some avicara, be very careful about your aggro, the avicara will skin you alive while you're fighting heretics and griffons, and the boss shouldn't even be discussed, don't fight it. That said, you should see that to your right there will be a LOT of griffons and 1-2 heretics in most cases. Don't worry this isn't one large group. Use your best judgement in pulling and make sure you pull them to a safe area with no danger from the boss. clear out that area and you've done good. Now for an added challenge, try to kill the boss group, if there are avicara there you're walking to death row. If there only griffons you have a chance. When i first made this build i could kill the ele boss, don't even try the monk boss. Those are the only bosses ive had spawn there and i cant help you with them, use your best judgement and be careful.
EDIT:I have found a way to kill 3 of the bosses I've had spawn on this run. Old Red Claw is the elementalist boss who pulls very easily just pull him out of that area and far into the area with the ramp. At some point the other monsters will leave and the boss is all thats left. he will stand in one spot and only cast spells on you at this point. He will not use melee attacks against you in most cases so don't use ripostes. Keep dolyak up to counter his two KD's and hack at him with your 3 attack skills. If the monk boss raptorclaw appears then pull him and his group much like you did with the ele but stay on the north-west wall of the ramp area even when it heads north. With extreme effort in pulling you can get any avicara to leave or have they're attacks miss because of the wall. Also, get the monk boss to run back and have it to where only the griffons and avicara are fighting you, then kill the griffons and run away. Totally regen and then run back in, grab the boss, and do the wall thing again. Now for the boss. The monk boss has a powerful symbol of wrath so watch out, other then that just heal when you need to to stay alive. To kill him use your riposte and attack skills as much as possible, this boss will use melee attacks against you. If the mesmer boss Featherclaw spawns then pull his group back and you then have 2 options.1) pull to where you can kill the griffons that are with him.2) pull to where its just the boss fighting you, much like the ele boss. To kill featherclaw use as many atk skills as you can and keep bleeding on him. Watch out for his diversion, when he casts diversion on you, use riposte or deadly riposte b/c they are useless against him. He will use ether feast every once in a while so this can become a long fight but its very do-able. After thats done don't waste your time killing the avicara that may be there, go back to rankor, ID your goods, sell them, and go again.
Long guide i guess for a little to be said, but lots of its pretty easy to do if you're careful, this makes money off lots of drops up to purple, very few rares drop, and the griffon wings can be sold for some ok cash to players wanting the collectors shield out side. Please, if you have any suggestions post them, this build is still in the making and i appreciate all criticism.
This build is totally original, i started work on it when i went to get my collectors shield, no one would sell me any wings so i decided to get them my self, which made this. So now, 1374 words and 7105 characters later, i've finished talking.
